LORD OF THE RINGS CHALLENGE: DAY 3
Is there anything in the film adaptations that has made you angry because they’ve ignored important parts of the book?
Yes!! I was really looking forward to the part in the Return of the King - where Saurman literally invades the Shire and enslaves the Hobbits. Upon returning to the Shire, the hobbits (Merry, Pippin and Sam, I don’t think Frodo comes back just yet) and the Hobbits lead an uprising against his forces, which leads him to his demise.
Yeah, totally missed that in the movie. Anyone else?
I just feel that the Shire should not have remained untouched by the whole War of the Ring, as the movie depicted. With the near destruction of the Shire in the book, it made the whole ring debacle seem much more real and showed the true destructive abilities of it’s power.
