    Old Movies

My mum loves to watch old movies. I just can’t get my head around them. It’s surprising how different they are compared to movies made in my generation. Everything including mannerisms, social code and simply just physicality are different.

It’s amazing to really think of how much the world has changed in terms of all of these things in less than 100 years. It’s almost as if each new generation brings something new to the table. I’m trying to think of what my generation brought to the party besides My Little Pony, Sesame Street and a focus on the internet in our lives.

Despite all of this, it’s really got me thinking of people in my generation that really have made an impact on my life, to look at things from a subjective perspective. I decided that maybe I should write a little bit about these people and give you a little bit of insight to the young adults in my life that have really changed me for the better. After all, our group of friends really do influence us.

    1. Rachel Baker: Rachel is my old roommate from my first year of university, and I will be living with her in my third and upcoming year. She’s originally from England and I can literally say that I love her with all my heart. When I first started suffering from my anxiety disorder, she really helped me pull through. I can honestly say that I would not be here today without her.

    2. Katelyn Woodman: My other roommate from first year, and who will be living literally down the street from me in my third. She taught me to overtly organized and clean. And her smile always brightens my day. I remember in my first year, going to sleep at night and I could hear the clicking of her texting from across the room. I miss that terribly.

    3. Claire Morris: Claire has been my friend since I was 13 years old. I can honestly say that I do not know who I would be today without her. The best part about being her friend is that there are no pretenses when I’m with her. We pick up our conversations directly where they left off, even if there’s been a span of 6 months between them. She lives in Nova Scotia, where she goes to college, so I don’t get to see her much.

    4. Amanda MacArthur: I can tell Amanda anything at all. She goes to Windsor U, so clearly, I don’t see her as much as I would like either. But, she never judges and she’s always there when I need a crying shoulder. We spend a lot of time together in the summer, and it’s always fun.

    5. Kylie Niles: I’ve known Kylie only a short time, but I can with true and meaningful affection say that I love her with all my heart. I love spending time with her, so much that when I was living in residence and staying at her house with Rachel, I would literally skip classes so I could say. I’m going to be living with her and Rachel in September of this year.

Sorry for the babble, but I just wanted to spill my guts. I hope that you also have people in your life who you can rely upon as much as I can. I don’t know who I would be without these people.
